Achieving a Robust Multi-Site CDM Toolkit
Client: Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST)
Sector: Education
Services: CDM Consultancy
Location: UK-wide
The Client
The Girls' Day School Trust is the UK's leading family of girls' schools, including twenty-three independent schools and two academies. Located across England and Wales, the schools tailor their approach to how girls learn best, providing them with the attributes they need to excel.
The Challenge
The Trust needed a straightforward and consistent system to manage CDM compliance across its estate of 25 properties. It was particularly important that staff within the organisation could have confidence in the system on a day-to-day basis while also relying on it for capital schemes and self-delivery projects. A simple and effective CDM management system was required so that all schools within the UK estate could manage smaller construction projects more effectively and compliantly.
iON’s Solution
We worked collaboratively with the Trust to develop a CDM management toolkit that would enable them to adopt a standardised approach to planning, managing and monitoring CDM compliance. This was achieved through collaboration with key stakeholders, which ensuredthat the system was designed by those responsible for using it. Our subject matter experts provided specific training and help desk support to ensure that the Trust could establish robust processes across the organisation.
"The iON team methodically interpreted our needs for managing construction within the estate and developed a simple yet effective CDM toolkit to help our school teams carry out minor construction works in a compliant manner. To ensure that everyone could use the toolkit competently, iON trained our school teams. An excellent job by a very professional business partner."
