Community

We believe that our success is measured not only by our economic growth but also by the impact we have on the world around us. That is why we are committed to contributing to positive social change, starting at a local level in the community. The idea that a more inclusive and compassionate society drives prosperity is embedded in our daily operations.

We support our local communities by giving each team member two extra days off a year to volunteer for a charity of their choice. Through this initiative, we have supported Tŷ Hafan, one of the UK's leading paediatric palliative care charities, and Outside Lives, an organisation that brings people together to support personal growth and wellbeing. We have also joined Shelter Cymru's Fight for Home campaign. It is amazing to see our colleagues enthusiastically supporting important causes and making a difference on a practical level.

Giving back is central to our values. As well as fundraising for various causes, we also support our customers in their charitable endeavours. This allows us to extend our support to local communities across the UK.

Mesothelioma UK

Mesothelioma UK has been supporting people affected by mesothelioma and raising awareness of its devastating impact since 2004. The charity aims to prevent future generations from developing mesothelioma, a disease currently diagnosed in around 2,000 people each year. It actively advocates for better treatment and care, supports research, amplifies the patient's voice, and works to improve quality of life.

With the charity's support, patients can access mesothelioma clinical nurse specialists in local hospitals across the UK, giving greater access to treatment and clinical trials. These nurses also offer advice on how best to manage symptoms.

Mesothelioma UK funds a dedicated research centre at the University of Sheffield. It also offers a freephone support line, access to two specialist benefits advisers, and a travel grant to help with the cost of attending clinical trials. The Patient Information Forum has accredited the charity's comprehensive information service.

Mesothelioma UK Charitable Incorporated Organisation is a registered charity in England and Wales (1177039).

Wrexham Foodbank

The Wrexham Foodbank operates as part of a national network of food banks, supported by the Trussell Trust. It works to combat poverty and hunger in our local community. As well as providing nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to people in crisis, the network is actively campaigning for reforms to eradicate the need for food banks in the UK.

Wrexham Foodbank provides emergency food and compassionate, dignified support for anyone living in extreme poverty or locked in crisis. It also helps people access advice about maximising their incomes and lifting themselves out of poverty. This practical support aims to tackle the root causes that lock people into poverty and build their resilience so that they are less likely to need a food bank in the future.

Food donations

Members of the public can donate non-perishable, in-date food at the Wrexham Foodbank warehouse on Rhosddu Industrial Estate. Additional drop-off points are located in several schools, churches, and supermarkets throughout the city.

Food vouchers

Care professionals, such as health visitors, social workers, and school staff, identify people in crisis and issue them with a food bank voucher. People can use this voucher to receive three days' worth of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food from their local food bank.

Additional support

The food bank network provides additional support to help people resolve the crises they are facing. This includes access to debt advice, mental health support, or benefit guidance.

Location

The Wrexham Foodbank runs eight distribution centres across the city, providing food parcels to those in need. Find your nearest food bank.

Tŷ Hafan

Tŷ Hafan offers exceptional care for children with complex and rare conditions, along with comprehensive support for their families. The charity provides vital care at its warm and welcoming hospice, in communities across Wales, in family homes, and in local hospitals.

When a family is caring for a child with a life-limiting condition, they often face a daily struggle due to a lack of necessary care and support. Currently, 90% of families in Wales lack the vital support they desperately need. Tŷ Hafan is working to ensure every family has access to the care they require through life, death, and beyond.

The charity helps make short lives as full as they can be and, when the time comes, provides end-of-life care and ongoing bereavement support. Its specialist services extend to parents, siblings, and other family members, offering personalised support to give them strength, help make treasured memories, and improve their quality of life.
