Supporting Mesothelioma UK with £5000 and an Ultra Challenge

After raising £5,000 for Mesothelioma UK, iON Consultants commits to the Peak District Ultra Challenge!
Having experienced the devastating impact of mesothelioma first-hand through the tragic loss of several colleagues and associates to the disease, the team at iON Consultants has been actively supporting Mesothelioma UK for several years. During this period, we have raised an impressive £5,000 to support the charity in its important work of helping those affected by mesothelioma.
Mesothelioma UK offers patients direct access to specialist nurses in hospitals throughout the UK, ensuring they receive timely support when they need it most. The organisation also facilitates access to clinical trials and advanced treatments for those affected by the disease. This work reduces unplanned hospital admissions and improves patients' quality of life.
Our fantastic team of consultants joined forces to take part in various physical activities, raising awareness of and funds for the vital work of Mesothelioma UK. Together, we covered an impressive 5,000 miles on foot, by bike, in the pool or in open water. These efforts were rewarded with donations from generous colleagues, family members, friends, and the company itself.
On 12th March 2026, iON Consultants was formally recognised by Mesothelioma UK for its continued support and commitment. Director and co-founder Richard Bennion attended a celebratory Corporate Partner Day at the charity's headquarters in Loughborough. Reflecting on the company's support, Richard praised the team's dedication. He said:
"Visiting Mesothelioma UK and learning how funds directly support frontline nurses has been a humbling experience. As independent consultants specialising in responsible asbestos management, we understand the very real risks this material poses for the health of people in our society. While we are doing everything we can to prevent health issues, it is good to know that charities like Mesothelioma UK exist to support those living with this devastating diagnosis."
The fundraising journey will continue later this year when members of the team take part in the Peak District Ultra Challenge in July 2026. They will join 3,000 other adventurers in taking on a two-day endurance challenge covering 100 km, 50 km and 25 km loops, with up to 2,150 metres of ascent! They will be pushing themselves physically while raising further awareness and support for Mesothelioma UK. Director and co-founder, John Evison reflected on how important it is for him and his colleagues to stand in solidarity with those affected by the illness, commenting:
"Mesothelioma UK remains one of our charity partners, and we were keen to push ourselves by doing something that is very much outside our comfort zone! We are looking forward to taking part in what promises to be an incredible challenge in the Peak District. We aim to inspire others to join us in supporting this vital cause and help raise much-needed funds for research and support services."
