Date: 16/07/26

iON Consultants is pleased to announce that Matt Watson has joined our team, bringing valuable expertise to our behaviour-led approach to asbestos assurance. Matt's extensive insight and practical, people-focused approach strengthen our ability to support more clients with compliant asbestos management. His strong technical background and commitment to improving on-site standards make him a great fit for our company. His arrival marks another step in the expansion of our specialist capability.
Matt joins us after spending twelve years as an asbestos surveyor, where he provided refurbishment, reinspection, management and demolition services for a diverse portfolio of properties. During this period, he also undertook analytical duties for several prominent utility and pharmaceutical companies. At iON Consultants, he will offer technical support and advice to dutyholders, review survey reports, and conduct audits for remediation projects. Together with our asbestos consultants, Matt will leverage our independence and impartiality to enhance industry standards.
Throughout his career, Matt has supported projects at unique locations, including offshore oil platforms, embassies and ships. Wherever he has worked, he has remained committed to building strong relationships with customers and providing a reliable service. This includes ensuring the quality of asbestos data, particularly in large, ageing properties. Maintaining accurate asbestos registers and remediation records is crucial as these buildings undergo renovations. The success of projects rests on adhering to the correct standards in all aspects of the work. Commenting on the definition of good practice in asbestos management, Matt said:
“Good practice on site is about more than simply compliance. It starts with reliable information and clear communication, and people take pride in doing the job properly. The best sites I tend to see are those where everyone works together, follows the agreed procedures and isn't afraid to ask questions if something doesn't seem right or is unclear.”
In his role at iON Consultants, Matt is looking forward to providing independent supplier assurance and being a trusted technical advisor. Commenting on his new position, he said:
“I’m looking forward to helping customers gain confidence that surveys and remediation work are being carried out to the right standards and issues identified before they become problems. I'm also excited to work with a strong team that has plenty of interaction, collaboration and support. This role offers great opportunities for career progression, not just within asbestos consultancy but across the wider health and safety industry. This was something that really appealed to me, as well as joining a company renowned for dependable, professional delivery.”
Matt is settling in his role and is already making a difference in creating safe cultures for our customers. We look forward to him pushing our agenda to improve behavioural competence and drive standards across the asbestos industry.
