2025 In Review: Measured Growth and Meaningful Impact
Date: 22/12/25

As 2025 draws to a close, we're taking a moment to reflect on a year defined by new relationships and operational expansion. We've continued to grow organically, engaging with established brands, contributing to critical industry conversations, and attracting exceptional talent to help raise safety standards in an increasingly complex compliance landscape. We're taking pride in having made significant contributions to our community and environmental partners, supporting those in need during a time of ongoing economic instability.
Redefining Safety for Modern Workplaces
This year has seen a shift in how the HSE regards behavioural and psychological factors in risk assessments. These risks are now regarded with equal importance to physical hazards. We've been working with our customers to help them adopt a more holistic approach to safety and stakeholder wellbeing, enabling them to champion accountability and develop robust and resilient workplace cultures that put people and the environment first.
New Strategic Partnerships
We've been delighted to onboard and welcome Indurent, TNS Catering and West Lancashire Borough Council this year. Through these partnerships, we've delivered bespoke asbestos assurance, comprehensive health and safety compliance, and integrated ISO management solutions. We've also collaborated with several prominent industry associations, providing expert opinion to support and inform industry conversations. It has been a privilege to contribute our expertise to the National Organisation of Asbestos Consultants (NORAC), the Faculty of Asbestos Assessment and Management (FAAM), the National Housing Maintenance Forum (NHMF), and Community Housing Cymru (CHC). These alliances have extended our reach across key public sectors across England and Wales, helping us bring critical challenges and regulatory updates to the fore.
A Growing Team and A Larger HQ
To support our growth and enable us to deliver value-added solutions in a timely and effective manner, we've expanded our team. Earlier in 2025, we welcomed Principal Health and Safety Consultant Rachel Wetherill and Asbestos Consultant Matt Bailey, both of whom have played a key role in engaging customers and creating safer environments. As we continue to attract new talent, we look forward to introducing new colleagues in the first quarter of 2026.
In Q4, we moved into our new headquarters, a modern, purpose-built environment designed to facilitate team expansion, support project delivery, and enhance customer engagement. Located in a leafy business park on the outskirts of Chester, the new office features a productive open-plan work environment, collaborative breakout areas, and a dedicated training space. The move represents a significant milestone in our company’s history, reflecting not only our expansion but also our dedication to creating an environment where our team is valued and given the autonomy to lead projects and make decisions that drive our business forward.
While teams naturally grow and evolve, we’re bidding a fond farewell to Asbestos Consultant Callum Skene, who will be leaving us at the end of the year. Callum has been an invaluable member of our asbestos team for the past few years. He has made a significant contribution to our customers and the wider industry through his expertise and unwavering commitment to quality. Callum has become a valued friend and supportive colleague to us all at iON. Although we're sad to see him go, we're excited to see his career flourish as he takes on a new challenge.
Community Matters
We believe that our success is measured not only by our economic growth but also by the impact we have on the world around us. Throughout 2025, we continued to support our charity partners, Mesothelioma UK, Wrexham Foodbank, Ty Hafan, and Shelter Cymru.
Throughout 2024 and 2025, our team has been running, cycling and walking to raise funds for Mesothelioma UK. As asbestos consultants, supporting this charity is particularly important to us, as it directly helps individuals and families affected by this asbestos-related disease. Together, we’ve clocked up over 5,000 miles and raised £5,000, providing vital support to those impacted by this devastating condition. We’re now planning an even more ambitious challenge for 2026. Watch this space!
Food inflation remains a major pressure for families, single parents and individuals living in the UK. Earlier this month, we donated 118 kg of food, toiletries and nappies to support those accessing Wrexham Foodbank. We hope this donation brings comforts to households in our local area, particularly at this costly time of year.
As well as our regular monthly donations, we were honoured to donate £500 to Ty Hafan's annual Every Precious Life Campaign. This initiative aims to support families in Wales who are facing the unimaginable loss of a child, ensuring they receive the care they so desperately need. Thanks to generous match funding, every pound was doubled, and together, supporters raised an incredible £430,860 in just 60 hours!
Throughout 2025, we also made regular donations to Shelter Cymru. In July, we had the pleasure of meeting Corporate Partnerships Officer Francesca Mairs at Community Housing Cymru’s One Big Conference. We were proud to contribute an additional £500 to support the organisation’s ongoing mission to defend the right to a safe home in Wales.
Forest Impact
We continue to partner with Tree Nation to offset our carbon emissions and do our bit to combat climate change. For every invoice we issue, we plant a tree on behalf of our customers. We also offset our team’s emissions and the CO2 emissions produced by our website. This year, we’ve planted a total of 1114 trees across 1.12 hectares, sequestering 173 tonnes of total CO2!
The preservation of Mt. Elgon’s ecosystem in Uganda is just one of the many projects we’ve supported this year. The country has lost at least 12% of its tree cover since the early 2000s, threatening the environment and local communities. This project engages local farmers to grow trees, build sustainable livelihoods, and improve family nutrition. It also offers technical and advisory services that encourage complementary activities, such as beekeeping and the cultivation of cash crops, such as coffee, bananas and beans. Since the projects inception by the Welsh Government in 2006, over 21 million trees have distributed and planted.
Looking Ahead to 2026
2026 looks set to be a year of reform. With the HSE’s consultation on asbestos regulations closing on 9th January, it’s likely there will be some tightening of legislation and increasing enforcement, with tougher expectations on duty holders. Changes to ISO management standards are also on the horizon. As more details emerge, we’ll ensure that our ISO-certified customers remain compliant and maintain certification with confidence. Our health and safety customer can expect tighter regulation, stronger competence requirements, and a major shift toward psychosocial risk management.
Here at iON Consultants, we’re developing a dynamic suite of products designed to optimise the services we offer our customers. We’ll also be welcoming new team members to deliver this exciting strategy. We look forward to sharing more details in the new year.
We wrapped up 2025 with a team celebration in Chester, complete with an axe-throwing competition, a rather daring choice for a group of SHEQ professionals! Congratulations to Matt Bailey on achieving an impressive and possibly alarming top score! The day provided a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the many successes of 2025 and to thank everyone for their incredible work throughout the year. It set the tone for a promising 2026.
We take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to supporting you throughout 2026 and beyond.
